Alvin Staple erhielt ab dem sechsten Lebensjahr Klavierunterricht am damaligen Brucknerkonservatorium bei den Professoren Rabitsch und Matthäus.
Nach dem Eintritt ins Musikgymnasium Linz erfolgte der Wechsel zum Dirigierstudium bei den Professoren Zlicar und Ingensand.
Vorerst als Nebeninstrument zum Dirigierstudium gedacht begann er im Alter von 17 Jahren mit dem Kontrabass,
der sich nach kurzer Zeit zum Hauptinteresse entwickelte. Das Masterstudium an der Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität bei Professor Schachenhofer
schloss Alvin Staple 2004 mit Auszeichnung ab - gleichzeitig war er als permanenter Substitut an der Wiener Staatsoper,
bei den Wiener Philharmonikern, beim Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, beim Brucknerorchester Linz und beim Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi di Milano tätig.
Seit 2005 ist Alvin Staple beim Brucknerorchester Linz als Kontrabassist engagiert, seit 2012 als Stimmführer.
Das Gründungsmitglied des Crossover Streichquintetts „Quin Tête-á-tête“ begleitet außerdem eine rege kammermusikalische Tätigkeit - u.a.
mit dem Johann Strauß Ensemble, dem OÖ. Mozartensemble, dem Philharmonices Mundi und dem Orchestra Svizzera Italiana.
The first foundations of Alvin Staple’s musical career were laid at the then Bruckner Conservatoire
in Linz/ Austria, where he received piano tuition from the age of six.
Later, at the prestigious “Musikgymnasium” high school in Linz,
choral and orchestral music became increasingly important to him and he began
studying orchestral conducting under Professors Nicolaj Zlicar and Ingo Ingensand.
In fact, it was his conducting studies that prompted him, at the age of 17,
to take up the double bass so as to gain first-hand orchestral experience, and it was not long before
the double bass began to “play first fiddle” in Alvin's musical life.
After his studies under Prof. Anton Schachenhofer he graduated from the "Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität"
in Linz with a Master of Arts degree in 2004, having been a recurring substitute at the Vienna State Opera and
with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, the “Brucknerorchester Linz” and the "Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi di Milano“.
Alvin Staple was appointed to a permanent position as a double bassist in the "Brucknerorchester Linz“ in the summer of 2005,
later winning another audition to the position of Principal Double Bassist in 2012.
Alongside his orchestral work, another passionate area of activity is chamber music.
Alvin Staple is a founding member of the crossover string quintet “Quin Tête-á-tête” and plays, inter alia, with the Johann Strauss Ensemble,
the Upper Austrian Mozart Ensemble, the “Philharmonices Mundi” and the “Orchestra Svizzera Italiana”.
